Stewarding Connection, Healing & Growth
“Healing is not about fixing ourselves. It is about reclaiming our wholeness.”
- Resmaa Menakem
Rooted in Kapwa
-
Kapwa is a Filipino Indigenous value that means shared self or shared humanity. It reflects the understanding that ‘the self’ is not separate from others and that our well-being is deeply interconnected.
Rather than centering individualism, Kapwa invites us into relationship. It reminds us that healing is not something we do alone, but something we practice in community — through care, creativity, and collective responsibility.
Where Kapwa Grows is rooted in this principle. Our spaces are designed to honor interconnection, lived experience, and cultural wisdom.
-
Where Kapwa Grows exists to cultivate culturally-rooted spaces that honor lived experience, creativity, and community. Centering BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, we offer expressive arts and community programs that foster belonging, liberation, and collective healing.
-
Our approach is relational, creative, and culturally attuned.
We draw from expressive arts, reflective dialogue, and embodied practice to create spaces where participants can explore their stories, reconnect with their bodies, and engage in shared meaning-making. Rather than pathologizing lived experience, we recognize it as a source of knowledge and resilience shaped within social and cultural contexts.
By centering accessibility, equity, and trauma-informed facilitation, we aim to create conditions where growth can unfold through connection — with ourselves, with one another, and with the communities and ecosystems we are part of.
-
Where Kapwa Grows centers BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, creating spaces where culture, identity, and lived experience are not simply welcomed, but recognized as sources of wisdom, resilience, and belonging.
This commitment is reflected in our approach, which is guided by a cultural humility and liberatory framework. We weave together expressive arts with holistic practices and rituals that have supported well-being, reflection, and connection across cultures and generations. We honor creativity as an innate human capacity and recognize it as one of humanity's oldest pathways to expression, meaning-making, and transformation.
While our work intentionally centers BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, we welcome anyone who values curiosity, equity, and relationship-centered practice.

Meet the Co-Founders
Kamusta, Hola, & Hello! We’re Ericka & Gabriel.
We founded Where Kapwa Grows to bring to life the spaces we dreamed of — spaces that reflect our cultures, our communities, and our lived experiences. Shaped by intergenerational migration and mixed identities, we understand the complexity of navigating multiple worlds and the importance of gathering in spaces that feel familiar, grounded, and affirming.
This organization was built within community — rooted in culture, relational care, and the belief that healing spaces should reflect the people they are meant to serve.
